3dpbm AM Post-Processing 2021 eBook

Stay up to date with everything that is happening in the wonderful world of AM via our LinkedIn community.

In this eBook, we take the opportunity to focus on the last (but not least!) stage of the additive manufacturing process: post-processing: from cleaning and debinding to parts handling and materials recycling, to finishing and coloring. With an eye on the end-to-end AM workflow.

Across all AM technologies—from polymer extrusion, to metal powder bed fusion, to binder jetting—post-processing is a critical step for the production of high-quality, end-use parts. Post-processing solutions, as we’ll explore in more detail, are especially important for enabling digital additive mass production (DAMP). To date, the AM industry has perceived post-processing as something of a bottleneck to achieving serialized, industrialized AM production. The good news is that we are starting to see robust, scalable and automated solutions for finishing 3D printed parts, across powder-, filament- and resin-based technologies.

In the following eBook, we provide an in-depth look at the different post-processing solutions that exist on the market today, from material handling and cleaning solutions to debinding and sintering furnaces, to finishing, smoothing and coloring technologies. We also hear from post-processing specialist PostProcess Technologies about its journey towards sustainably scaling AM, and revisit an interview with Elnik Systems President Stefan Joens. Finally, we map out the most promising visions for an automated AM factory, wth innovative AM workflow approaches being developed and realized by innovative companies like Siemens, GE and others
