3Diligent expands manufacturing-as-a-service suite

Stay up to date with everything that is happening in the wonderful world of AM via our LinkedIn community.

3Diligent expanded its leading manufacturing-as-a-service (MaaS) application, ProdEX, and its scalable shop management application, Shopsight. These applications respectively connect additive manufacturing service providers with clients and enable remote assessment, quoting and project management. These applications run through 3Diligent’s Connect interface: advertisers and customers can request a quote via ProdEX and management workflow through Shopsight. Connect thus serves as a gateway to Industry 4.0. It combines the software packages and uses a secure online portal and Zoom’s videoconferencing tools to connect manufacturers and customers directly.

3Diligent situates itself as an automated broker with its MaaS portfolio. ProdEX stands at the center of this suite of applications. It uses an algorithm to bring engineers and buyers together to procure custom parts on-demand from manufacturers. The application gives engineers and buyers the benefit of international expertise without them having a sprawling international corporate structure. Shopsight is a subscription-based, scalable shop management system that enables better job and machine shop operations through a suite of assessment, quoting, fulfillment and quality tools. 3Depot, the final tool, indexes users’ digital manufacturing materials and processes (with users’ consent, of course). The tool links local inventories with global demand. The company also provides consulting services.

The announced expansion to ProdEX and Shopsight allows manufacturers to more directly present their offerings to potential customers. The Connect interface that unites 3Diligent’s tools now offers a request-for-proposal-driven pairing system. Manufacturers advertise their offers, and the system pairs these offers with customer-driven RFQs. Customers will be able to search RFQ inputs instead of keywords, which gives manufacturers the potential for greater returns on investment by using 3Diligent’s platform. Customers save time when working in ProdEX because they will be more efficiently paired with manufacturers.

ProdEX and Shopsight have also been updated to include a Design Studio portal. The software lets users in the 3Diligent platform better develop new products. Users can upload their design files and request a collection of designs for manufacturing studies to be run on their design. With these studies, users can identify ways to improve their design to accelerate manufacturing and reduce costs. The manufacturing processes included in the design studio portal span milling, turning, sheet metal bending and forming, and injection molding, with additional manufacturing processes to be added in the future.

The company is offering these updated manufacturing-as-a-service products at discounted rates as an introductory incentive for a limited time.
