3devo, a Dutch technology company, was created around the mission to turn 3D printing into a “closed-loop cycle”, to empower innovators and creators through developing accessible products. Now the company is adding the AIRID Polymer Dryer to its extrusion ecosystem which already includes the Filament Maker, a desktop extruder that extrudes custom 3D print materials and the SHR3D IT, an innovative plastic processor that recycles old plastics into printing graduate granulate.

The portable polymer dryer is set to become commercially available on June 28th. AIRID is designed to eliminate moisture and increase material quality for an improved filament experience. The integrated mixing device allows for air to be uniformly distributed throughout the resin. Issues caused by polymer hydrolysis are bubbles and holes in the filament which leads to inadequate filament and structurally unstable prints.

“The AIRID Polymer Dryer is the last piece in our closed-loop ecosystem. The user now achieves full control over every step of recycling and extrusion. Unlike a standard oven, AIRID dries batches evenly and makes extrusion even more stable and reliable for consistent filament,” said Louis Rinaldo, Materials Researcher at 3Devo.

The AIRID has a 5 liters capacity and can process 1kg of material in 3hrs. It includes polymer presets to streamline the drying process and dries up to temperatures of 160°C/320°F.

In line with 3Devo’s accessible philosophy, the portable dryer is an ideal addition to a desktop extrusion system. Along with material presets to promote accuracy, the dryer also features intuitive display settings to easily develop a customized drying environment.
