3DCeram Partner With University of Shandong, Send Ceramaker 900 Printer

3DCeram, French company based in Limoges that brings together a range of experts from the field of materials and processes for the 3D printing of ceramic objects and specialists in 3D printing using stereolithography, have just announced a
partnership with the University of Shandong in China. This collaboration will allow professors and students from the advanced materials laboratoryto train in ceramic 3D printing and advanced ceramic applications using the Ceramaker 900 printer, designed and manufactured in France by 3DCeram.
Established towards the end of 2016 in Wuhan, China, 3DCeram’s Chinese subsidiary have announced the sale of a Ceramaker 900, their ceramic 3D printer, to the University of Shandong. This is a first for the French company, who are now set to export their French-made expertise to the students of this prestigious scientific university, and marks China’s entry into the field of ceramic 3D printing.
The University of Shandong is one of the oldest universities in China, and is the country’s second university behind Beijing. For what is an international scientific university, this partnership with 3DCeram will allow them to expand their training range into 3D printing: by investing in a Ceramaker 900 printer, the university will now be able to train its future engineers in the needs of the Chinese market in terms of ceramic 3D printing. Let’s not forget that the 3D printing market in China is burgeoning and has experienced annual growth of 40% since 2010. The Chinese government have also invested heavily, freeing up close to $245M of funds for the sector, with the aim of stimulating innovation and becoming a world leader for this form of technology.
China already enjoys a positive reputation in the 3D printing market and is aiming to become something of a pioneer for this cutting-edge technology with high-quality products. For 3DCeram, this agreement is part of a cooperative project with the university’s Mechanics and Materials department, who made the decision to acquire a Ceramaker 900. Acquiring this industrial printer will allow them to carry out:
– Research into the different special applications, e.g. the mechanical and military sectors
– Research into specialist materials that can be printed

This unique process is employed by 3DCeram in order to develop prototypes to medium series of ceramic components (FCP, their on-demand production service). This means they are able to manufacture geometric pieces very quickly, ranging from the simplest to extremely complex shapes.
3DCeram developed the CERAMAKER, a 3D printer designed exclusively for ceramics. This 3D printing solution is designed for ceramic component manufacturers, integrators/users of ceramic components, key players in the luxury industry, biomedicine and industry more generally.
