3D Printing Studios selected SAP Distributed Manufacturing to provide companies in the Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) region with access to the latest industrial 3D printing technology and services. 3D Printing Studios is the leading regional 3D printing service provider with current operation presence in Singapore as its Asia Hub, Sydney and its newly open studio in Melbourne.

“Having been in the 3D printing industry for almost a decade and being the early pioneer in this region, we have grown with our customers and have seen an increase in demand from companies adopting 3D printing for “Industrial Grade” printed parts meant for functional applications. “This moves the use of this disruptive technology beyond just for prototyping” said Jason Joo, Managing Director for Asia and Co-Founder of 3D Printing Studios.

Part of the SAP Leonardo portfolio for the Internet of Things (IoT), SAP Distributed Manufacturing provides a scalable process for manufacturers to collaborate with 3D printing companies, service and materials providers, and OEMs in open or private environments. Through integration with SAP S/4HANA, it supports the entire end-to-end, quote-to-contract process, enriching standard procurement objects with all required details on how to make the part through additive manufacturing. The general availability of the application follows validation in early access and adoption phases with more than 45 participating customers and service providers.

“SAP has been a strong proponent of co-innovation, and SAP Distributed Manufacturing is a great example of a product that resulted from our co-innovation with customers and service providers to make 3D printing a seamless part of digital manufacturing,” said Khor Chern Chuen, Managing Director, SAP Singapore. “In Singapore, we have been co-innovating with our customers to deliver new solutions to the market via our SAP Co-Innovation Lab. This collaboration with 3D Printing Studios is part of our aim to support manufacturers develop and adopt standard and scalable business process. The ultimate goal is to help them intelligently manage their operations in a collaborative network to drive more effective Industry 4.0 strategies.”

As part of the SAP Distributed Manufacturing ecosystem, 3D Printing Studios aims to expand their B2B 3D printing services to better serve companies across 12 countries from Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Japan and South Korea.

3D Printing Studios will assist companies’ move toward adoption of a digital manufacturing approach with its proven 3D printing methodology and process including quality validation, checks, testing and certification.

“Asia is the fastest growing market region with many emerging economies currently booming and growing in a very healthy state, the adoption of 3D printed products being used is a very encouraging indicator and we want to be in the lead position to capture a significant market share from the manufacturing space,” says Jason.

As 3D printing technology advances beyond prototyping, more companies are rethinking their manufacturing and supply networks to take advantage of cost-effective local production, customization and rapid delivery to meet changing customer expectations.Since 2013, 3D Printing Studios have been a pioneer and one of the leading 3D Printing Services Bureau operating a full 3D Printing solution centre.
