Aectual and DUS architect’s 3D printed Tiny Bauhaus celebrates 100 years of movement
The design takes the form of a ‘gesamtkunstwerk’ or synthesis of the arts
Exactly 100 years after the Bauhaus movement was founded, 3D print platform Aectual teamed up with famed studio DUS architects to create a novel Tiny Bauhaus building that introduces revolutionary mass-customization building techniques.

Not new to fascinating yet quite practical and stylish works, Aectual’s 3D printing platform brings the spirit of Bauhaus into the 21st century following its guiding principles.
The first is that 3D printed form follows function: the design by DUS architects takes the form of a ‘gesamtkunstwerk’ or synthesis of the arts, using the intelligence of 3D printing. Canopies, seating and shelving are accounted for in the design and fabrication process; they seem to ‘grow’ from the walls. As a result, installation is fast, easy and error free.
In terms of materials, Bauhaus always encouraged innovation and the use of modern materials. In this new project, recycled bio-plastics can be added to the existing palette of glass, stone and wood. The material can adapt to any color, appear in many textures and is fully recyclable.
Bauhaus meets 3D printing geometries
In addition, Bauhaus designers focused on using geometries that could be reproduced with ease. Now virtually any design can be digitally customized and 3D printed with ease, further democratizing design and encouraging further exploration of one’s creativity.

Germany Travel commissioned the bespoke building that will tour Europe in 2019. It will be possible to experience the future of building design with the TINY (BAU)HAUS in Barcelona, Budapest, Vienna, Rotterdam, and more. Currently, it can be visited at the Musée des Arts et Metiers in Paris.
