Are you a stringent follower of Pantone’s colour of the year as I am? Then, like me, you’ll be very excited to hear that the hue expert has teamed up with Italian filament company FiberForce to launch a line of Pantone Matching System (PMS) 3D printing materials.

This means you’ll be able to 3D print objects in this year’s colour, Living Coral, as well as 14 other shades with Pantone’s seal of approval. The FiberForce collaboration marks the first time that the Pantone Matching System has been used as a basis for 3D printing filament.

“We are excited to release the first 3D filament simulating approved PMS color identities and to bring globally recognized Pantone Colors into the 3D printing world,” stated Francesco Berton, CEO of FiberForce Italy. “Thanks to this alliance we can provide a higher level of customer service. Our 3D filaments are commonly known for excellence in quality, and from this day forward we can add another concrete support to 3D printing market, where the importance of colors is a key point.”

The first series of Pantone-inspired filaments have officially been launched, giving makers and professional users access to range of colours well suited for applications in design, fashion, homeware, architecture and more. Going forward, Pantone and FiberForce say they will continue to expand the filament collection, adding new palettes to keep up with colour trends.

“Collaborating with FiberForce Italy provides designers working with innovative materials and advanced technology the ability to bring Pantone Colors to life in their 3D printed creations,” added Adrián Fernández, Vice President and General Manager of Pantone. “Leveraging approved Pantone Colors within the 3D printing process enables users to maximize the power of color and visualize samples that truly realize their design intent through easy-to-print filaments.”

In terms of availability, the Pantone filaments can be found on Amazon in the following countries: Italy, France, Spain and Germany. In coming months, the 3D printing materials will be sold through FiberForce’s European distribution network. Eventually, resellers in the U.S., Canada, Central and South America and the Middle East will stock the colourful consumables.
